Basement floor is poured!

August 8, 2013 – the concrete contractors came out and filled our basement floor! MK didn’t tell us that this was going to be done, so when we happened to drive out there Friday, the 9th, we were pleasantly surprised, to say the least!

Basement is poured!!! They cut lines into the concrete, that way as the foundation settles, it doesn’t let the concrete crack as badly as it would without the lines (Ted had to tell me this…obviously I have NO idea)IMG_0204

It looks so big!!!!IMG_0205

Trying to get a picture like this every time so we can see the progress as the house takes shape.IMG_0208

I’m going to try and take a picture from this angle every time we go out…so at the end we can compare the difference made. IMG_0210

Back-filling the foundation

August 1, 2013 – the sub-contractors came out and back-filled  the foundation. We’re getting closer and closer to framing. We can’t wait!!

Since we weren’t out there when this was going on, we had to rely on the trail camera’s picture to capture this process. Here they are:

Ted and I stopped out to see the progress and excited to see the house coming together. IMG_0202

We were really excited to see that we now have power set up at the lot! It’s temporarily set up at the moment, but soon it will be up and live! IMG_0198

Pipes are in!

July 20, 2013 - Ted, Ted Sr, Matt (Ted’s helper at work) and Matt’s brother were all working hard on the plumbing at the house. Thank goodness for plumbers in the family (and friends). And thank goodness for the amazing weather that day! It was 82 degrees, cloudy and a nice cool breeze. Perfect.

The pans were still there when Ted and the guys got out there. Apparently the crane used to remove them broke the day before so it was up to them to move them themselves.

I can only imagine what they were talking (bickering) about :)

Sadly, the rain has been holding us up so we are a few weeks behind schedule. BUT MK told us that the basement was poured this week (August 6-8th) and that framing should be starting in 2-3 weeks. Can't wait!!!!
